Mark Jan 29, 2018 14:39:24 | Re: varnish remover use in cold temperatures You can use the Circa 1850 Heavy Body Paint and Varnish Remover at low temperatures without any risk of freezing. You will notice that it takes longer to strip off the finish when the temperature very low. |
Tracy Apr 20, 2021 15:30:53 | Re: varnish remover use in cold temperatures Can the stripper freeze and what happens to it? I have 2-4L cans and both are so thick it barely comes out of the can and really hard to spread. I’ve used Circa 1850 for many years and have never seen it this thick! |
Mark Apr 20, 2021 16:03:30 | Re: varnish remover use in cold temperatures What product are you referring to? How long have you had the cans? |
Tracy Apr 20, 2021 16:47:16 | Re: varnish remover use in cold temperatures I’m referring to Circa1850 heavy body paint and varnish remover. I bought it last fall (2020, just opened it up yesterday. Has been kept in the cupboard in my heated garage. |
Mark Apr 20, 2021 17:24:57 | Re: varnish remover use in cold temperatures It is certainly possible that the viscosity can change over time, sometimes getting thicker and sometimes thinner. If the remover is too thick, you can mix it with Circa 1850 Furniture Stripper to obtain a remover that may be easier for you to spread. |

Mark Oct 31, 2023 14:46:37 | Re: varnish remover use in cold temperatures Yes, you can store any of the Circa 1850 removers at very cold temperatures. Avoid storing them in hot places. |
